Humor

Introduction

The humor project is the final English project at Freestyle and is a chance to relax and have fun with classmates.

Process

First, my group and I brainstormed starting prompts to build the script off of. We ended up with “when life gives you lemons” as the seed of our song.

With that seed, I wrote the lyrics, with finding rhymes with my group-mates fueling the initial story direction.

Then we headed into the studio to figure out the tune. Once I figured out guitar, we would figure out the bass part and then the vocals.

After we had figured out each of our parts, we recorded them.

Recording the video and acting out the lyrics (with some slight interpretation and alteration due to prop constraints) was really fun.

Then the video and audio were edited and here it is:

Final Product

Lyrics:

When life gave me lemons
I wanted lemonade
had to use the lemons
in a fruit-for-veggie trade

They are sour
very tart
they've got power
if you're smart
I just want these lemons in my mouth

Give me your lemons
Give me all you got
We’d give you cabbages
But we’ve only got carrot?

When life gave me lemons
I wanted lemonade
but I had to use the lemons
because I felt betrayed

They are sour
very tart
they've got power
if you're smart
I just want these lemons in my mouth

Yum Yum these lemons
We’ve scammed him so good
Oh no not that many lemons
We’ll stab you with carrots

When life gave me lemons
I wanted lemonade
but I had to use the lemons
as a makeshift grenade

They are sour
very tart
they've got power
if you're smart
I just want these lemons in my mouth

We’re going to get you
Don’t try to hide
You gave me a booboo
And it made me cry

When life gave me lemons
I wanted lemonade
but I had to use the lemons
to build a barricade

They are sour
very tart
they've got power
if you're smart
I just want these lemons in my mouth

I’m tired,
this is lame,
no lemons?
Let’s just go

When life gave me lemons
I wanted lemonade
but I had to use the lemons
so I'll drink my Gatorade

Reflection

Overall, I thought this was a fun project, but it felt a bit rushed, especially towards the end. If I were to do it again, I would make sure to leave extra time for composing and recording the song, as well as editing the video.
