Creating the self-portrait web page was creating a webpage about myself and my feelings. I included some of my family and friends photos with captions to explain why they are important to me. I have in there a very personal essay where I introduce the outside world to my own world, the world I live in everyday. In the essay I show what my passions are and what personal stresses I face as a teenager. I have to admit my illustration idea could have went a different direction but I used that object to express myself in a different way. I wanted to try something new and go with it. My diptych was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I had to drive in many different places including Stevens Creek park and Shoreline park. Let me just put it this way, birds do not stay still. My diptych Idea sprouted from my dreams of one day becoming a famous singer. I thought since birds love to sing I should use them for my metaphor. My Web-Gems are some of the websites that I use. I obviously don’t use nick.com but I do use khan academy and wolfgramalpha. These tools I find very useful to gather information for a specific question I have about homework, etc. My photo gallery was a bunch of random photos I took in my room. the quality is not the greatest for some photos because I didn’t understand what shutter speed, aperture and ISO was so I did not know how to change them to manipulate the surrounding light to make the photos crisp and clear. But now I understand what the three mean and I know how to change them to manipulate the surrounding light to make the photos crisp, no more noisy photos.
The documentary unit was a unit based on a specific topic in which we chose. Single motherhood hits me right at home. Growing up with a single mom isn’t always the easiest way to grow up. My father was and is still in my life but I still had to grow up differently than a child who’s parents were not divorced. I found the background image on the internet. I was looking for a cool design that represented single mothers. I found the pregnant women bursting out of the flower to represent her blooming which had best describes the metaphoric image I was trying to portray. A lot of single mothers accel from being a single mother by not only finding themselves but proving to themselves that they can handle something much bigger than themselves. I wrote my book to help the struggling single mothers to see how a baby has many positive results. For this website I had to interview people to help give real life examples in my book and research paper. We were also introduced to having buttons with sound. Which is a cool thing to learn and use.
This project was probably the hardest project at Freestyle for Junior year. We had to create a story with a narrative arc, starting with the details, climax, resolution. My story is about a guy who tries to find who his dad is. He lives with emptiness in his heart in which he wants to fill. The challenge of this project was the animation. To create the animation we used the Adobe program called Flash. drawing out the story and animating it sounds easy but took a lot of time, patience, and technique. For my buttons at the top of the page I drew the different elements that were from my story. Everything on this webpage is based off of my narrative except the illustration. My illustration was based off of my person essay I wrote in the Self-Portrait webpage. For the narrative webpage we had to have created an animatic and an animation. An animatic is pictures being moved around to better tell your story. An animation is the Characters being animated to better tell your story. Two different pieces, two different meanings.
For this unit we were given the opportunity to write some lyrical magic. This unit was fun and entertaining. We got to recieve feedback from a professional songwriter. To which we talked about furniture which means to add feelings, objects, memories, etc. that people can relate to. If people could relate to your song people will remember your song which is what makes popular songs so popular. We also created a design piece. I explored the feeling of overwhelmedness from hearing my favorite song or songs. Its that bundle of joy that escapes from behind a locked door. Every big, little, crazy, round, transparent detail in my piece means something. To which it all describes the result or continuous feeling I personally feel when my favorite song comes on the radio. I love poetry. Poetry fills the soul of warmth and emotion. It allows people to express what they are truly feeling inside. I wrote five poems and animated one of those poems. I love writing secret messages inside my poems to which only a few people have figured out, so my poems are possible to understand.
The Profile Unit Project has been a really interesting project for me here at Freestyle. I decided to do it on an Exorcist Priest who is at Sacred Heart in saratoga, California. It was a very interesting experience meeting with him. His presence is very intriguing and I felt that i needed to go to church after I met with him. Hope you enjoy my web page in which you will see a magazine article I made along with a photogallery and more. Enjoy!
During this Music Video Unit we had to create a song with the film students. We had to develop a song that had the lyrics with verses, a chorus and a bridge. Also we had to create the musical instruments that went with it. Our song is called Blue Moon Wolves. In this website you will find the song we have along with the music video. Also you will find my own music poster and Cd cover I have made. If you were wondering how I made all this stuff, inside the webpage you will find the Adobe programs we used along with a photogallery of my group members in the journey we took to get our work done. Hope you enjoy!
For this unit we created a story with a antagonist, protagonist along with a omniscient. We then wrote a screenplay with Scriptbuddy which is an online site that is free and it helps us with the format of a screen play. In Design we made a book jacket for our book and had to design it so that it went with our story. To see and read these things visit my website. Also in Web/Audio we had to make an animation along with a website. Hope you enjoy.
Locking my car doors as the sound says beep. I walk with my back-pack and my best friend to design class only to discover that instead of regular class with lectures, we were to meditate. Super relaxed and clear minded we were given a prompt and expected to write about it. There wasn’t supposed to be a beginning, an end, or even a plot. We just needed to write something, whatever nonsense popped into our head. So, we did this for about a week or so and then we eventually stopped and we had to choose from our four writes to go further on. Then we dove into the academic part. We had to pick a book that would influence the style of our writing piece. I chose The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. His style was fantasy and he exposed this through his detail so I tried to do the same. Also we had to choose the design piece we did and go further on that as well but we needed a new font, technique, and filter. Alright, so that’s English and Design so lets talk about Web/Audio. In this class we were directed to reflect on all of our skills we have learned while at Freestyle Academy. We were expected to exceed the limit on our creativity and knowledge. We were given the assignment of a mini project where we were to prove what we learned in Web/Audio. To learn more visit my website and enjoy.

Dealing with a website, something I’d never thought I would be creating, discovering all the different codes JQuery, Div Class, Scripts, Snippets, etc. to produce a masterpiece of perfection. Each little custom font, color, class, button, image all has to do with your code of the website you’re producing. Code is everything, to which it has its advantages and disadvantages. An advantage would be, if you know the code, it’s easy to add and take away a specific design you do or don’t want. For example if you would like your buttons to fade you would just add a click function, type in which buttons you want to have fade out then in and then add in the fade in and out function to complete the effect. If you would like to make it fade fast or slow you can do that too, to which you just type it in as the duration. A disadvantage of the code would be that if you miss a single thing in the function sentence, it will not do what you want it to do. For an example I was adding the different variables on my web page and I put semicolons instead of commas and I could not figure out what was wrong until my instructor pointed out to me that I had the wrong punctuation separating the variables. When I changed it the buttons began to show up how they were supposed to. Overall Dreamweaver is a phenomenal Adobe program I was so fortunate to learn and use.

Freestyle Academy has a really creative twist opposed to Los Altos High School, regular school. Everything we do in Freestyle is all connected within the three classes a student at freestyle may take. For one of our projects named The Profile project, we had to discover a person we believed to be interesting. We had to interview them asking them questions about what their hobbies and daily lives are like. Developing a profiler style of writing with an anecdotal lead, nut graf, chronology, the different scenes, what lies ahead and finally the closing quote. Developing into around 5 page paper we turn into English. Our interviews are then used for our Web/Audio websites that we have a theme whether our website have a color theme with a character design or just a color theme. In design we were asked to create an article as it would look in a Forbes magazine. Having a diagonal, vertical, or horizontal balance, following the elements of design like a focal point, rule of thirds, etc. We also had to include the Photos we had taken of our three interviewers and include them in our article. The writing part was the profile style writing we wrote in English. At the end we added all the amazing products we had created and put in on the website we made in Web/Audio.
