For this assignment, we had to prove the importance of negative space within a photo. In my backyard, I found this clay thing hanging from the previous owners of my home. I have no clue why we still have it, but I chose it for my photograph since the sky would serve as a nice background. So, by rendering the background a soft blur, it draws focus to the subject of the photo, the clay sculpture, and makes the photo less cluttered. If there were no negative space in the photo, and all aspects of the photo were in focus, the image would be cluttered, and there would be no indication that the viewer should focus on the hanging clay, showing why negative space is so effective.
