The little glass bowls and cups on the ornately decorated stand are all no longer than my pointer finger, and they have ceremonial use. The elephant-headed figures depict the god Ganesh. We celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi every year, which honors that god. Although I do not believe in the god or the religion, I will always respect the tradition. The festival is, at the end of the day, less about religion and more about family.
