Sarah’s Museum of Modern Art<\/span><\/h2>\n

For the personal museum creation project, we were to select pieces from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art that we felt represented who we are as artists and\/or people. For each piece of art, I wrote a blurb about how I interpreted each one and how I connected it to back to myself and my values.<\/p>\n

This piece represents theme as a person because I feel like it really reflects my idea of dance. The piece shows a body surrounded by shapes. I connected this to dance because in dance everything you do with your body is a shape. Shapes are the basis of all movement in dance and this piece does a good job of showcasing all different types of shapes that can also be seen in dance.<\/span><\/p>\n

I chose this piece for different reasons. Because I feel it shows the \"\"perfect balance between organization and disorganization. It shows organization through the grid but disorganization through the scattered colors. This reflects who I am as a person because I love to be organized and I try very hard to be though this isn\u2019t always realistic and I don\u2019t always succeed. The other reason I chose this was because of all the different colors. I feel like this reflects who I am because I’d like to think that I am a very colorful and outgoing person.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I chose this piece simply because it is yellow and my favorite color is yellow. I think the color yellow also just does a really good job of reflecting who I am because the color presents emotions such as happiness, acceptance, and friendship. All of these emotions I really value because I think I am a very friendly and outgoing person who loves to be social.<\/span><\/p>\n

Life Death\/Knows Doesn\u2019t Know by Dan Flavin<\/p>\n

This last piece shows a group of neon signs that say things such as \u201cdoesn\u2019t care\u201d or \u201cdoesn\u2019t matter.\u201d This piece really reflects who I am a person because it reminds me of how much I try to just be who I am despite what other people say or think. I try to tune out and not listen to judgments that other people make about me and I pride myself on how good I am at doing so. This piece really reminded me of this which is why I would put it in my museum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This piece is one that I didn\u2019t like as such because it reminded me of my lazy qualities that I don\u2019t particularly like about myself. On the surface, this piece reminded me of how much I dreaded shaving my legs and why I put it off for as long as I can. Though this also made me think of just how lazy I am and why sometimes I fall behind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"This is a piece I also would choose to not feature in my museum because I don\u2019t think it reflects my values of unity or human connection. This piece reminded me of something that is very lacking in connection due to its lack of color. Color evokes a lot of different emotions that connect to the viewer and because this has no color I feel it lacks the idea of human connection. I also don\u2019t like this piece because of how separated each shape is. I personally feel that the peace highlights compartmentalizing which is something that I don\u2019t do often nor do I think are a good thing. I like to think that all parts of my life are connected and that everything affects everything.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In my own artwork, I usually lean towards a lot of vibrant colors or colors that evoke a specific emotion, which is also something very present in my museum as well. I also personally like more conceptual art or art that can be interpreted differently by different people. This is also a\u00a0 theme that is present in my museum, as most of the pieces I chose were most likely not meant to mean or say what I thought they did. Most of the pieces I chose were also not straightforward about their message, as none of them had any words or symbols on them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
