The last couple of weeks, I’ve spent lots of time with my delightfully silly eight-year old neighbor Mandy Gamble. She lives in a fascinating family consisting of a father working as a police cop and a mother working as a coroner. Focusing on the issue of youth in police families, I took pictures, recorded testimonies, researched topics, and observed Mandy’s daily life. I looked into how a “police family” has impacted her life so far and how it may impact her in the future.
My discoveries were wrapped up in an essay, which were then reformatted to look like a magazine article. You can check it out here if you’d like. it is put together in Adobe InDesign with the photos I took and the essay written in English.
Nowadays, videos are a common and powerful way of conveying information. Use of multimedia applications are emphasized at Freestyle and we were instructed to use our newly learned skills of Adobe AfterEffects and ProTools to create a video to demonstrate our skills and to provide information in an engaging and enhancing way. We learned how to record audio in the IsoBooth and then edit clips, add music, and export in ProTools. Then, using the audio as a guide, we used photos taken throughout the unit and animated them using Adobe AfterEffects and rendered a video. The audio was a reading of the essay written in English class and most of the photos used were photos taken for Design class.
This is a collection of pictures of Mandy and snippets of her life. Click on any photo to see the enlarged version!
