The material used for this piece of artwork was what initially caught my attention. Specifically, the textured, layered surface made from oil and pigmented shellac drew me in. Even though there isn’t much color, the surface has a lot of detail and is very complex. I would include this in my museum because it shows how minimalism can still hold depth, which reflects the kind of simplicity with subtle complexity that I value in art.
