EXPLORATIONS PROJECt<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Freestyle left a question for us to answer: “How can you find, explore, and\/or expand your passion?”<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>And, it is the purpose of this project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My project originates from the idea of making a dress, which was rejected by my Design teacher Ms. Parkinson because I already knew how to sew a dress, to a wearable sculpture. The reason why I chose to make a wearable sculpture is that I discovered my interest of making something that can be “worn” on a human body. I want to combine my work with humans and make it another form of life, at the same time, explore materials and art forms that I’ve never tried before. Ms. Parkinson mentioned that this project is supposed to be “experimental”, students should move out of their comfort zone and try something different. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My topic of this sculpture is “Human’s Natural Fear Towards Death”. The inspiration came from my experience before and after my great-grandmother’s death. I want to express my feelings visually and collaborate with three-dimensional materials. To me, it almost feels like devouring myself into the darkness and sadness, yet the happiness and memories are lit in the dark like lanterns. It is almost surreal and it still feels surreal to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PROCESS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The process started with the inside structure made with Aluminum Wire. Then I added Worbla around the structure for further development. After that is the base layer of Worbla, finally stick on the organza layer and put on layers of liquid latex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The spin like piece repeated the first two steps, it did not turn out how I exactly what it to be but I learned from it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FINAL PRODUCTION<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After the 2 weeks making process I spend another 2 hours with my friends (DhrithiV as model and MaisieR as assistance) finished this photo shoot of my final product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I edited the pictures with Photoshop, and I chose black and white with heavy textures rather than smooth colorful lighting (how they originally look like) in order to match with my topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is surely experimental because during the making process, I did not make the shape of the structure like what I expected, which I will definitely learn from it and make my future work better.<\/p>\n

I am very grateful for this whole session, it gave me the perfect opportunity to challenge, experiment, and express myself. For a student like me who is determined to do art in college and planning for an art portfolio, I learned so much from it and I will keep using what I’ve learned.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

MUSIC RECORDING<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For this project we are going to record a song (can either be self written or existed song), using the music production skills we learned this year and using the recording studio in Freestyle Academy. Me and Dhrithi V chose “Fly Me to the Moon” for this project, I did the vocal and she did viola as background music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artist Statement<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

I love the song \u201cFly Me to the Moon\u201d very much, and me and Dhrithi thought it would be good to do vocal and viola together for this song. We originally were going to do \u201cYoung and Beautiful\u201d by Lana del Rey, but Dhirithi could not find a good music score for the song so we chose the other instead. I\u2019m very proud of how it turned out eventually, especially for me, a nonmusic professional student, I\u2019m really happy that I got to try and record in the music recording studio, I had a lot of fun recording with Dhrithi. I value the collaboration we did together using Pro Tools and editing our song. I love making the cover and the experience is just very very fun for me to end the year like this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LYRICAL ESSAY<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lyrical Essay is the final essay we wrote in English class. It has no limit so you can basically write anything you want in your style. I enjoyed this project very much, I was inspired by what I felt in my life towards my beloved great-grandmother’s death. I wish you honor her in this essay and write about how I felt towards it, especially, my love of her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
