Introduction

Hey there weary traveler! It seems that you have stumbled upon my profile website starring the amazing Bart Smith! If you didn’t already know Bart is a hiking aficionado and professional photographer, who is currently walking the National Historic and Scenic trails, and documents his experiences through photos which he turns into books. Check out my magazine article to find out more, and be sure to visit Bart’s site to see some of his phenomenal photos!

Below you can find my “commercial” that I made about Bart, which I made using Adobe After Effects. This was very interesting to make because I haven’t had any prior experience with After Effects so it was engaging to be able to learn a brand new program in such a short period of time. The commercial itself is just a little teaser to the rest of the content on this website, so once again, The process of creating hte commerical taught me how to change scale, position, color, as well as incorporate effects to create the commerical. I encourage you to check out the rest of the site to learn more about Bart!

This project as a whole was a huge learning experience for me in all classes. In English, I learned how to write more visually as well as how to utilize less research by making it more relevant. I also learned a thing or two about proper semi colon use. In design, I learned how to exploit certain color schemes to unify the piece as a whole, as well as enhancing my InDesign skills, in design. I probably benefitted the most in Web Audio this project, because I learned how to use JavaScript to bring my website to life, as well as how to navigate and use Adobe After Effects. Overall this whole project was a fantastic way to grow as a student and as an investigator, and I am ultimately satisfied with the end result.

Magazine

The magazine portion was essentially the heart of the entire project, because everything we did in all classes revolved around the paper. The design elements that I used in my magazine can be seen throughout my website, presentation, and commercial.  In English, the project was to craft a paper that accurately captures the personality, goals, and aspirations of of your profile star. To do that we included sections in the paper such as an anecdotal lead, a nut graf, scenes, chronology, and a closing quote. We were also required to weave in minimal but relevant research throughout the paper as a whole. The paper was supposed to encompass the essence of a person who gives back to the community. This has been my best paper to date and I am very proud of it.

The Magazine itself was a project we were assigned in Design, which was supposed to capture the essence of your story angle as well as the profile star's personality through design elements, color schemes, layout and font choices. New mexico gives off a unique old town and west vibe, and I trie to capture that throughout my magazine. Click on the image to the right of the text to view my magazine!
