Hello & Welcome!

Me

Hello Everyone! My name is Zipporah Alcaraz, and welcome to my Self-Portrait website! This site was made to answer the question “Who am I?” I find that we are all trying to find out who we are and what opinions we have. Although I’ve lived only 16 years of my life, I’m still trying to figure that out, so I decided to base my website on my curiousity of where life will take me.

Since my main focus is about trying to find my path in life, I decided to create a map. A map is used to find your destination, and creates a way for you, which may have some obstacles. In my life, I’ve definitely faced many challenges, but as I overcome them, I know I’m just one step closer to becoming the person I hope to be and gaining happiness. I’m creating my own journey towards these aspirations, just like a map has its’ own path towards its’ treasure. For my music, I wanted something fun and happy, like a victory dance to represent the satisfaction and joy I have when I get through rough experiences or when I am loving life.

Within my pages, you can take a look at all the projects we’ve done in Freestyle that centers on the question of “Who am I?” Included are pictures of my friends and family, some thumbnails that link to bigger versions of the projects I’ve done in design, podcasts I’ve made in Web/Audio, and some English assignments we’ve accomplished through this unit. To add an interesting effect, I also included some audio for you to listen to as you view all the things I’ve been able to make.

We used several applications such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Flash, Garageband, Photoshop, and more to accomplish all that you will see. Such as, Dreamweaver, which is the main application used to actually create our website and put it on the web. Flash for the creation of our podcasts, Illustrator for our rollover buttons and illustration. Also Photoshop for our diptychs, and Garageband for our recordings, and music.

This is the first multi-page website I’ve created, and I must say that it has been an amazing experience. I’ve always wondered how people fabricate these sites and the media they put on it, and now I finally know. I can finally put something out there that I have made into the digital world, and say that it is mine. The feeling of accomplishment makes me so happy, and I’m so grateful that I have the chance to do this.

Walking Is a Cathartic Way of Mapping

This is assignment given to us in English, where we had to choose one of our personal statements(which you can see on my Podcast page)and use it to create a poem. In Web/Audio, we then created an interesting image with our poem to make it visually stimulating. My poem is called "Walking is a Cathartic Way of Mapping," and it relates to who I am because it explains my need to go into the world to experience it.
