WELCOME TO OUR INNOVATOR PAGE

As second semester seniors at Freestyle Academy, we were asked to create our own three month project in which we chose what to do and how to do it. Living in the Silicon Valley, we have grown up in a very STEM motivated environment that doesn’t adhere to the creativity of youth. There are so many talented artists in our community who are not appreciated for what they can do because it doesn’t have anything to do with the STEM curriculum or because they are "too young". To promote the arts and young local artists, we have created this website that profiles several students in the Bay Area and showcases their work.

ABOUT US

Our team consists of the artists we highlight, Savannah Carroll-Munoz, and Zipporah Alcaraz, also known as Zippy. Zippy and Savannah have known each other since their elementary school days at Castro Elementary School. After being separated for middle school, they met back together at Mountain View High School and have created a strong friendship together. After interviewing Walter Mayes for Zippy’s Documentary Profile, they both found their love in getting to know people through their documentary projects and were inspired to create this website for their upcoming Innovator Project. Together they’ve met wonderful and talented people, who they hope to keep in touch with and grow more as artists.

As we've worked on this project, each of us has grown individually and have found that this is something we both hope to do in the future. This is our thank you project to Freestyle Academy, to show them that they have taught us how to go for what we are passionate about and make our ideas a reality. Working on this project has taught us the importance of enduring to the end, making connections with people, appreciating the talents of others, and applying what we know to the projects we will create. This has been one of our favorite projects we've done at Freestyle and we want to thank them for this wonderful opportunity.
