Portfolio

Introduction

I’m Zoey Brake; I would like to share my portfolio. As a first-year senior, I could see only ab e to learn 3d animation. However, I didn’t let that stop me. M . Flo keeps this saying in his emails if there is no wind. Row. So I did. Through this program, I’ ‘ve learned technical and creative skills in industry-standard programs (PhotoShop, After Effects, Illustrator, Maya, etc.) and how to make a social recovery.

Below are three animations; I will tell you why they are the way they are and how I’ve chosen to change my choices based on the first one.

3D Narrative Animation

building a 3d animation was a long process that took nearly three months to finish. I learned so much about myself and my work ethic; as a student who felt extremely depressed after being told by my teammates halfway through the first month that they wanted to kick m out of the group. I fell into a challenging situation. I had to build my animation, something I could be proud of.

This project embarrassed me, but the quality reflects how I felt. Neglected, hurt, and tired. This is not to say I would’ve built something better with more time. My Substance Painter (painting objects) subscription was gone. I sought redemption in my Zenith Project. I got my rescue.

Zenith

By March, I had gotten over what happened with the Narrative Project and was ready to let go of what happened. I went back to the storyboard. But I just wanted to rebuild the 3d Narrative Animation 2d. I had never tried 2d animation, but it was a risk I was willing to take. February came, and I struggled with my digital media class, and I started losing focus with the time left. I decided to go for a more simple animation. I built something cute and tiny. It is the most incredible thing I’ve ever done as a traditional artist. This made my heart throb with happiness. I was so grateful that the 3d Narrative Animation didn’t go as planned because it let me create this masterpiece that I made. I could not have been prouder.

This animation originated from the bigger story about a town destroyed and abandoned by the villagers. Years later, after the plants had broken down the buildings, a raccoon dog comes to the abandoned city and starts planting edible plants and trees for the animals to return. the plants start growing, and the animals slowly start coming back.

Character Design

I had so much fun making this character; I took a lot of inspiration from Tibetan culture; I loved their clothing and food. The weapons they used to hunt animals were interesting.
