My Audio Slide Show’s focus is a little different than the focus of my research paper. Instead of talking about the problems caused by large, commercial farms and how local farms can turn them around, my audio slide show is specifically on Harley Farms. You’ll learn how Harley Farms started and how it grew to be what it is today. I interviewed Dee Harley, the owner and founder of the farm, Sam O’Sullivan, a tour guide, Chloe Talbot and Julie Burns-Silva, high school-ers working on the farm. You can find out more about them on my Bios page.

Making the Audio Slide Show was different than what we’ve usually done before. We made the slide shows in Flash, the same program we used for our animations late quarter. However, we did not do any animations at all. It was all about writing code. We were all familiar with code, but until now, it was never the focus. As like all things in Web/Audio, every little bit counts. If I forget a comma or a bracket somewhere, my entire slide show would start seizing.. well not really, but you get what I mean. However, what really challenged me was Pro Tools. Pro Tools was the new program this quarter and I was really intimidated at first. It’s like Garageband, where you can edit audio, but it’s more complicated. The more you know about it, the easier it gets. Right now, I would probably prefer Pro Tools over Garageband, but we’ll see after I learn more. And although this isn’t the main focus on my slideshow, be sure to listen to the soft piano playing in the background—I just think it’s fun.
