Deep Sea: A Senior 3D Layered Art Project by Emma Tei (2021)

For this project, I was inspired by the visualistic elements of the deep sea and the creatures that radiate its glow in the dark. Through planning and producing a light box with digitally designed deep sea illustrations, I was able to learn new techniques on Adobe Illustrator. One thing that I found challenging from this project was planning out the light box design on Adobe Illustrator, since I found it hard to picture the final product from line illustrations. However, as I experimented with the software and also drew by hand, I was able to slowly build the product together. If I were to change any part of my project, I would want to add more complexity to the light box designs to have more layers and interesting patterns. I am most proud of how the layering of the deep sea creature illustrations turned out when I put the light box together. In the future, I want to apply the techniques that I learned from this project in Adobe Illustrator to create my own designs and illustrations for projects in the creative field. This project made me realize how different and wide art expressions can be from seeing other student’s works and how they came to their final product. Related website
