If I could do one thing differently about my Mandala Productions, I would want to fix the color schemes for the colored mandala, as I felt that some of the colors didn’t mix well, and the lines of the actual mandala itself were quite plain, as they were all a sort of brown color. For the video, I would turn down the music a little bit, as I feel like it might be a little bit too loud, or I would want to space out each stroke evenly, as now I think there are some gaps that are too big or too small.
One thing I really valued about the Mandala Project was that I was able to learn this new technique, because without this project, I would have know clue how to even start with this sort of thing. I liked that I got more practice with clipping masks as well, and I was able to be creative with how I used it as well - whenever I wanted to have some kind of overlap effect, I took off the clipping mask, and whenever I wanted to have a clipping masks, I used it. The reveal video was also really cool to see, I think that time lapse type of video is really interesting, especially to see how all the layers stack on top of each other to make the art.
In regards to our “Reflections” unit, I learned a lot about myself. I noticed that whenever I was sketching out a draft of the mandala, I used a lot of vertical elements, which are still present on my final product. I also noticed that I tended to stay away from a lot of elements that I deemed as “basic” for a mandala, especially circular types of things, although I couldn’t stop using them completely, as I have some in my final product as well.
