Eternal TV Show of the Spotless Mind: A Junior Self-Portrait Diptych by Gregory Manoukian (2011)

I Am. I am a doctor of the fine arts and a liar. I wonder what I look like from another's perspective. I hear music in everything. I see sounds ricochet off the walls. I want to make something of myself, with as little effort as possible. I am a doctor of the fine arts and a liar. I pretend to know everything. I feel alone when there is no sound around me. I touch the cold steel strings. I worry about an empty nothing driving me crazy. I cry when I'm told to be quiet. I am a doctor of the fine arts and a liar. I understand that the world is too complicated for me to understand. I say the low hum in the background of life keeps me sane. I dream to use music in my future. I try my hardest, but its okay if I fail. I hope to never be silenced. I am a doctor of the fine arts and a liar . My Diptych represents what sound and more accurately, a lack of sound does to me. On the left side, is a guitar that has been smashed to bits, only to be recognized by the head and strings thrown in every direction. This represents the lack of sound in my life, that drives me crazy with my own thoughts. The picture on the right is of a cat lying on a piano. The piano represents music calming the ''great beast'', shown as the cat. The poem describes my reactions to sound of any kind, and the total lack of sound.
