Honesty: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Alexandra Gamble (2011)

In general, I am very honest when it comes to my opinion and although ''honesty is the best policy,'' sometimes I am too blunt and I hurt people's feelings. I chose to depict this using sour candy because at first they are sour, but then they become sweet because they, like me, always have the best intentions at heart and never mean to hurt anyone's feelings. In my illustration, the candy is tie dye colored. This is because in seventh grade, my friend wore a tie dye dress which she loved. The minute I saw her, I instantly asked what she was wearing and told her I hated it, which although it was the truth, was too blunt and ended up hurting her feelings.
