Resilience: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Taylor Peterson (2011)

My illustration depicts a field hockey stick hitting a ball into a goal protected by a goalie. The stick hitting the ball resembles my tenaciousness and determination. In any situation, I always grab an opportunity when I see one. Like in field hockey games, I take the shot when it's open. The goalie defending the goal resembles the obstacle that I must pass in order to achieve my goal. The goalie is colored orange and red to show failure and that it scares me. I can be sensitive at times. When I miss my goal, it's hard for me to get back up again. I am extremely determined at heart, but my worst fear is what would happen if I miss that shot.
