Final Explorations: A Senior Experimental Art Piece by Julia White (2012)

For this project, we were assigned to utilize the Freestyle campus to compile photographs representative of our Freestyle experience and to mesh them into one cohesive image.

My piece was more driven by my creative intuition rather than premeditated thoughts, which in itself can represent my experience as a Freestyle student and an artist. I feel that trying to fit one's vision into an impersonal mold is contradictory to the purpose of art, so I decided to follow my eye while taking pictures around campus. My final image is a compilation of three images that I liked and thought would work well together. I knew I wanted to incorporate the chalk writing on the table and the chains of the fence. Fortunately, the picture of the red flower seemed to fit perfectly as well, framing the writing nicely.
