Untrustworthy: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Nava Motamedi (2012)

In my illustration project I have a picture of a lady's back who is crossing her hand behind representing my inability to trust. I chose this picture to show that it is hard for me to trust other people because you never know if they are crossing their hands behind their back and because of people in my life, in the past, who I have lost my trust in. In between her fingers is a heart. This heart shows the relations I have with people and how my inability to trust affects them. This idea came from how I feel in my life when I meet new people or even people I know for a very long time. I tend to hold back because of the past. My message is that I can't trust anyone until they have given me a reason to.

Using Illustrator, I have drawn out the hand with the pen tool and colored them in. I used color in this to reveal my message through the photos and for them to pop out. There are contrast between the colors and all the of them balance the picture out. The shapes of the heart and fingers help represent the idea. For example, I colored the heart red, reasons being that red is the color of love and because it is the first thing you spot when you take a look. I build walls up when it comes to trust but when I know for sure that I can trust someone, I never let go of my trust and that is one good thing about my characteristics.
