Forgetting Something?: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Sam Wong (2012)

In this piece I wanted to convey my airheaded and forgetful nature. It is common practice in some cultures for a person who is forgetful to wear a red string tied around their finger. My little walking red string man is absentmindedly walking away from his duties and tools. The duty of string is to be a part of cloth or tapestry. The little red string man is walking away from the buttons of his life, the scissors of his creation, the spool; his very source and essence. He neglects what makes him who he is, without meaning to. The string is forgetful.

I am forgetful. I forget jackets, lunch boxes, lose pencils every day, never seem to remember every assignment I'm supposed to be doing. I forget what makes me what I am, and walk away from what I should be doing all the time.
