Two Worlds: A Junior Self-Portrait Diptych by Elizabeth Jiang (2013)
For my diptych I took a picture of a bird’s nest (left side) and of a map (right side). My poem was primarily about friendship and family and how they can be compared to a flock of birds.
The birds nest was taken near the back of MVHS, and symbolizes a family that lives in close quarters and does everything together. Similarly, birds in general fly as a flock.
The map is actually one that is hanging up at home, and the tacks mark where various family members live around the US. This is more representative of a family that is more spread out and only communicates with each other every once in a while.
