Disrupted-Flow: A Junior Self-Portrait Diptych by Paul Pierantozzi (2013)

My diptych is based on my essay I wrote about my troubles with writers block. The essay demonstrates how my creative flow is disrupted by my fear of how it will turn out in the end. The diptych is based on this idea of ''disrupted flow''.

The left side of the diptych represents ''disruption'' which blocks my creative flow. The crack in the crosswalk shows disruption of a pattern on the road. It stands out in the photo as something that is not uniform compared to the rest of the elements in the photo.

The right side of the diptych represents ''flow'' which in this case is referring to my creative flow in my writing. Water is an excellent example of flow in everyday life, it has smooth uninterrupted movement. The lighting makes it look like the water is flowing out of the darkness almost, which works with my metaphor for creativity and thoughts.
