Modern Day Barcode: A Junior Self-Portrait Illustration by Sabrina Johnson (2013)

My illustration is based off one line of my personal essay ''Just another bar code in this thing we call ''society'', has made us.'' In my essay I talk about how I express who I am by what music I listen to, and how some people will judge others by what they listen too. People who listen to a different style of music can stand out from others, and it’s as if you need barcodes to tell them apart.

My picture represents how people have changed from their own selves into barcodes some just wanting to be expected. This is shown by the evolution of man which turns into barcodes, also the black and white background shows them going into a darker time. The fire on the bottom shows the people depending can be going into their own destruction.
