Nora: A Narrative Character Portrait by Isabella Kuhn (2014)

This is a portrait of the character Nora. Nora is a strong-willed high school student who just got into a fight with her best friend, Becky, over a cell phone. The portrait captures Nora as she is walking through the halls of her high school after Becky and Nora had just gotten into that fight. You can see on Nora's lip a tiny bit of blood from the day before. Nora is now dealing with the aftermath of yesterday's fight. In the portrait you can see Nora clutching the straps of her backpack and notebooks that seem as though they can fall in any moment. This is used to show her distress of coming back to school after getting in a physical fight with her best friend. I used the lighting to portray the mood of the photograph.
