Autumn Leaves: A Narrative Character Portrait by Alexandre Hugly (2014)

One of the most important people in the story, while only being a side character, is Kenny. He is the resolving figure of the main character's conflict. Kenny's grandfather dies and he is left feeling empty. At the end of the story, a coincidental conversation between Tom (main character) and Kenny, leads to both of them realizing that time only moves forward, unwavering to the events of life. The autumn leaves and the pocket watch is an iconic symbol of this, carrying on from Tom's grandpa, to Tom, to Kenny, passing through time.
