Harlin: A Narrative Character Portrait by Sofia Biros (2014)

In this photo, I capture my main character, Harlin. Harlin is a shy, quiet, and introspective high school girl, who loves to write (and she's good at it too). In my story, the cliche ''cool girl,'' Christy, approaches Harlin and asks her to rewrite her essay for her. In my photograph, I capture Harlin, sitting alone, flipping through her notebook. This is before Christy asks her for help. Harlin is not necessarily lonely, but she is the type of person who is okay on their own. She is currently very content with being by herself, and does not have any intentions of changing that-- until Christy comes along, that is.
