Resentment by Accepting Others: A Junior Conceptual Project by Ethan Leikach (2014)

My concept statement was exploring the feeling of resentment by accepting others for their differences. In my background I created an ever shifting gradient going from red to purple to blue, which shows the hatred we have for others only because we either wish we had their qualities or see the same negative qualities within ourselves. The top layer is a pattern of mirrors that shrinks with each new one. That is to represent the small details that each person shares with another that we refuse to see.

My fine art medium was oil pastels. They blend quite well and create a nice abstract background. All I did to make this was color the different sections in and then blend away with my finger until I got the desired effect.
