Suspicion in Meeting New People: A Junior Conceptual Project by Sabrina Johnson (2014)

My concept statement was ''I am exploring the feeling of suspicion when meeting new people.'' I chose to use an isolated eye in one corner looking down on smiles in the other. The eye represents someone who had been hurt before and isn't willing to trust others (represented by the smiles).

For my fine art piece I used soft pastels and covered one half of the paper in dark colors, which represent suspicion and hurt. The other side has lighter colors to represent happiness and comfort. I then scanned the paper and put together what you see now.
