Inert: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Kevin Chan (2014)

Inert is a story which takes place in the near future, in a clean and peaceful city where people are content with their uneventful lives. The book jacket for Inert conveys this in two simple ways. First, the color scheme of blue and white goes together peacefully with no conflicts, like clouds in the sky. Secondly, the cover features the outline of skyscrapers without any defining details and simple drop shadows to differentiate between the layers. In order to create the book jacket, I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. Illustrator features advanced graphics tools which I used to design the artwork. InDesign was used to add text with its typography editing capabilities and to lay out the final design of the book.
