Snow Day: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Sheila Ahi (2014)

The title of my narrative story is Snow Day, and it is story about a pair of siblings. The younger sister feels neglected by her older brother, then befriends a snowman. The brother sees the inevitable end to her friendship with the pile of ice and does something about it.

I was a bit inspired by children's books authors, and tried to make it as simple as possible. My font is actually three layers of the same text, but I manipulated it so that it would look more three-dimensional. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the background and InDesign to put all the separate pieces together. I painted the background with Illustrator and used a variety of colors and brushes. It was a difficult process for me, since the cover wrap is supposed to wrap all the way around and, for some reason, I could not imagine what it would look like on a book. However, with the help of Ms. P, I got a better visual in my mind and worked from there.
