Endless Fog: A Senior Explorations Amplified Piece by Adam Poltorak (2014)

The prompt I chose for the exploration project was Thought. The goal behind the prompt was to free write about it and then express my writing using colored pencils on special Dura-Lar paper. My drawing turned out to be a futuristic intelligence with a human brain connected on top. Adding the drawing into Photoshop, I placed it as a focal point in the background of a fenced pathway. The photo I took is blurry on the sides and clear in the center. My idea was to replicate how the back of an eye would look. There is a figure at back of the eye that represents thought and how it happens behind our eyes. The figure is constantly floating there and making the human think. His heart is a three dimensional cube to represent the complexity of thought.

A very different process was done for this artwork. It began with the colored pencil drawing. The requirements were to include a downloaded font, filter, incorporate a new Photoshop technique and finally add a photo taken with a DSLR camera. Deciding what picture would go with my drawing was tough. I didn't want to use my old habits of photography. I wanted to explore the places around me and capture a photo with a lens I had never use. I ventured towards a lens called ''Lens Baby.'' This lens lets the user choose the aperture (depth of field) which results in some really interesting effects. With the lensbaby, I went out to my old elementary school and instead of deciding before hand what I wanted a picture of, I just spontaneously took photographs of what interested me at the time. The product was a very eerie photo with a foggy feeling to it.
