Void: A Senior Explorations Amplified Piece by Drianne Pantoja (2014)

This is an image of a painting that I created with watercolor paint and pastels. The idea of this image is to connect to isolation, which is why I painted a small figure in a scenario where the majority of what's in the photo is bigger than it itself- that being the trees and the ground. The trees are tall and dark, and the ground is wide and dark, whereas the figure has a very narrow slim body with no one else for company.

To fulfill the requirements, I looked up a new technique that is meant to make a photo gloomy on Photoshop. I am aware that making the hue more blue and applying blue filters can possibly be a way, but I wanted a very straightforward way where I can automatically type in the approximate numbers for each tone to get what I want (e.g. cyan -35, magenta 0, yellow -35). It took about two minutes and definitely added a gloomy effect, whereas the way I originally would have done it would have just made my entire photo the same blue tint in all areas, which is not what I wanted. I then Googled a new filter, which was called ''bokeh blur,'' a filter that is obviously not in Photoshop CC/CS6, but somewhat exists, as there are many different things you can do with blurs; however, the filter I downloaded gave a lot of options that were way simpler for me, so I got to make the edges of the image blurry to give the image sort of a foggy look. As for the third requirement, a new font, I went for a Halloween-ey look, to go for the gloomy appearance, so I Googled ''Corpse Bride,'' a Halloween movie. In the end, the site that I ended up on gave me many other fonts that were used on movie case covers, which is how I ended up with the ''Charmed'' font. I picked out the words from my poem that made most sense for this image, and a simple phrase itself. This was the last part of the process which wrapped up what I strived for- a gloomy and very lonely photo.
