Pool of Thoughts: A Senior Explorations Amplified Piece by Emma Orner (2014)

This piece of art is based off of four pieces of art created in Design class for our Blink Unit. The prompt was to create a work of art using the art created during the Blink Unit. Based around the idea of thought, it portrays the concept of a ''beautiful mind.'' I wanted it to have multiple things occurring at the same time without creating a feeling of chaos.

After creating the four pieces in class, I scanned them into the computer. This piece was created mainly in Adobe Photoshop. I duplicated many layers in order to fill the canvas with the intricate swirls, which were made with a calligraphy pen and ink. Multiple filters were added to the swirls in order to obtain the dark blue color. The waves are originally made using colored pencil on a paper made of a plastic base, making it almost see through and extremely smooth. I cut out some of the waves and added multiple filters to boost the colors and pencil strokes. The boats were from the same photo and were cut out and duplicated over many times to fill the canvas. The words were added last using a font from dafont.com and are quotes from my blink writes.
