Thought: A Senior Explorations Amplified Piece by Fiona Stolorz (2014)

The prompt for this project was ''thought.'' When I first heard the word, I instantly thought of the commotion that goes on in our heads. The phrase ''start listening more and hearing less'' points at the fact that we should focus more on our own thoughts, and less on the muffled background noises that fill our minds. This image is meant to depict the random sounds that we hear throughout the day. The melting ears signify these sounds and noises, and the exploding pink and purple background compliments this idea that our minds are exploding with thoughts and sounds.

This piece was created in Photoshop. I first scanned in an image of my acrylic painting (the melting ears) and then used a filter to create the etched effect. The background is a photograph of food coloring in water, which was also heavily edited with various Photoshop techniques.
