Private School: A Senior Humor or Satire Art Project by Isabella Graziani (2014)

For the Narrative unit in Design, I created a caricature that incorporated my humor skit for English. For english, I did a satire/parody humor skit with a partner about catholic and private school kids specifically Saint Francis. I wanted to use my background knowledge of private catholic school because I went to one for elementary school to represent certain aspects of their system that I didn't like. I chose to voice my dislike for the lack of individuality because of uniforms. In my design piece I have two horses with reins and a saddle, wearing a plaid skirt. On the top in bold letters it says ''Private school where everyone is an individual.'' I wanted to have horses instead of people because the reins emphasis restriction.

I created most of this project in Illustrator with a drawing of the horses, plaid skirt, and text. I started off with the pen tool and designed the horse and plain skirt. I then added a brown blob to look like the ground so my horses were not floating in thin air. Finally, I added the text. This was all relatively easy to do in Illustrator and I had a blast the whole time. I didn't really have any problems creating this piece and overall loved this unit.
