The NANNIES: A Senior Humor or Satire Art Project by Paige Eller (2014)

For my Design piece, I decided to incorporate Burlesque (an exaggeration of characterization) as well as Irony to connect with my groups English presentation. I chose to make my piece look as if it were an advertisement that might be seen in a coffee shop window, or tacked to a pole. I wanted to show how important I thought our business was, and believed that the most convincing and tacky way to do it, was through an over-the-top advertisment.

In order to get my message to come across, I needed to use a simple, legible, and recognizable format of an advertisement. I stuck with black and white elements, using different fonts, to emphasize certain points with italics, or bold fonts. This entire project was created through Illustrator. I was able to reference typical advertisements on the internet, which helped inspire my own. I saw how many companies or businesses, would put offers or coupons in the corners of their ads, so I decided to do one of my own.
