Is It In You?: A Senior Humor or Satire Art Project by Christopher Lanman (2014)

The type of humor I used for this humor piece was parody. I made a parody on the Gatorade advertisements that have professional athletes in action and then the slogan, ''Is it in you?''. The reason this piece is a parody and not an imitation of a Gatorade ad is because this is a picture of a made-up sport called ''fasketball''. Fasketball is a cross between soccer and basketball. The fictional sport is outlandish, which makes this piece even more ridiculous.

For this project I used Adobe Photoshop to layer two photographs on top of each other. I also used the program to make part of the composition black and white and the other part color. I even supersaturated the blue Gatorade to make it look more vibrant as it is seen in the real Gatorade ads. To top it all off I made blue rain and put it over the entire piece with a low opacity in order to make it look like it was raining blue Gatorade (as seen in the Gatorade ads). Although I did have some initial struggles trying to replicate the Gatorade look, the piece came together nicely. Not to mention, I had a lot of fun making a mockery of the renown sports drink known as Gatorade.
