Bubbles: A Senior Amplified Art Project by Elizabeth Leung (2015)

I wanted to use water as a theme in my Amplified project. My quick write is about an isolated town that is protected by a water tank. Water is both a protective and destructive force; all life depends on water. I used my zentangle as the background. I colored it in cool shades of green and blue. After inverting it, the colors became warm, pastel colors, like flowers blooming in spring. I cut up my word into pieces that looked like flower petals floating over the waterpot. I cut circles out of my mandala and put them over the hole on the waterpot to make them look like bubbles floating upward. I took a photo of a waterpot and used Photoshop to crystallize it to contrast living and nonliving objects. I used the lines the water tank guards it from harm and there is nothing outside from my quick write and put them over the waterpot. I used a more solid font to highlight the stable side of water that fosters life.
