Instinct: A Senior Amplified Art Project by Laurel O'Such (2015)

My blink amplified piece includes many different forms of art, including pencil, paint, and digital photography. It touches on your gut instinct and how in order to grow, change, and realize what you want, you have to listen and follow that instinct. I had a girl in a relaxed position connecting with the earth in a nurturing, zen way. I also included my word safety above her, because it showed that safety will come with whatever she chooses to do. I used photoshop for this project which is one of the most useful skills i'm taking away with me after Freestyle. Photoshop along with other Adobe software has prepared me for what's to come. I plan on majoring in digital cinema at DePaul University as well as computer science, this is due to what i've learned and how I've grown with my 21st century skills. I also realized through freestyle, learning the artistic side of myself and becoming more comfortable with my personality, that I truly enjoying learning outside the classroom and how to independently learn. The first instruction we get at freestyle is, think metaphorically, as nondescript as those words sounded in my first weeks at freestyle, it taught me how to think for myself. These are huge obstacles that took me a long time to understand and grasp through the last two years here, but I am so happy to have these skills and thoughts leaving but never forgetting Freakstyle.
