Story Sprite: A Senior Surreal Photo by Nicholas Lamm (2015)

For this piece, I tried to create the metamorphosis of my subject into a fairy, with wings of paper, sitting on a lawn growing on a book. The subject is a normal person if viewed separately, but together with the background of the book and desk, the illusion of small size is created. The book gradually fades to a lawn of grass, upon which the fairy sits, the wings made of binder paper sprouting from her back.

The purpose of this piece was to convey a certain indescribable emotion. The feeling one gets when they've been sitting for hours before a book, reading, absorbing, and assimilating information about a world that does not exist. The fairy represents that feeling, sitting upon the book, overlaying itself with the real world.
