Saving the Studio: A Senior Narrative Book Jacket by Angelica D'Augusta (2016)

Grayson Clark is an aspiring TV director who's fresh out of college and full of new ideas, but like all great legends, he must start somewhere. For the past few months, Grayson has been a diligent intern at the small, local TV station hoping to earn himself a solid job that eventually opens more doors. Just like any other Wednesday, Grayson arrives to work about three minutes early with a tray full of various coffee orders. However, when he enters the cool studio room, the usual hustle and bustle is replaced with a crowd of people sitting facing toward each other with distraught expressions on their faces. Grayson quickly learns that his manager Bentley had abruptly quit his job due to the studio's rising financial problems and faltering ratings. Bentley's departure leaves the studio without a boss nor a script to finish the television show that they were producing.

The group is feeling desperate and lost, causing them to hand their trust to Grayson hoping that they can rely on the new guy to help bring back some direction. Grayson sees this as his opportunity to show the studio his talents and hopefully land a full time job at the studio. When Grayson comes back the next day with a notepad full of ideas to share for everyone, news begins to circulate around the office that the dramatic financial instability that the studio was having wasn't even possible and a history search begins. Saving the Studio is a realistic short story that teaches readers that even in the real world, there will be obstacles to overcome. The story reveals that not all high authority figures are meant to be trusted and reminds readers to jump at any opportunity that helps them achieve their dream.
