No title: A Junior Conceptual Transport Project by Hudson Jones (2017)

For my assignment, I took an angled photo of a bicycle tire. I felt that, while it could be considered a cliché choice for a project on wheels, a bike is possibly the best example of the importance of the wheel in modern society. On top of that, there were many different angles to experiment with using a bike. I angled my wheel to capture the details on the tire while also showing some of the other parts of the bike in the process, like the gears. Another decision I made was to add water to the wheel. Water can add cool effects to an image, and I really liked the reflection of the bike in the shallow water on the ground. I feel that the water spiced up an image that could have simply been a tire on the ground. As for the lighting, I took this picture a little bit later than I meant to, which led to it turning out darker than I had intended.

Thankfully, I was able to fix this using Photoshop. Upping the brightness fixed the problem easily. It also made the colors in the picture pop a little more, an effect which I liked. I was able to enhance this effect further by making the vibrance higher as well, bringing out more of the colors in the bike, such as the rust on the spokes of the wheel.
