3C Crew Logo: A Junior Illustration Project by Elisa Fong-Hirschfelder (2020)

For my Illustrator Project, I decided to create a customized T-Shirt logo for the dance crew that a couple of my friends and I created together, in order to make personalized costumes for our future performances. Our crew, called the “3C Crew”, is composed of four members with dance backgrounds in Hip Hop. For the logo, I decided to draw an orange with our crew name as the individual slices. Just as how many shirts are designed today, I put the logo on a small size in the corner of the front of the shirt. On the sleeve, I created my own font with three c’s in orange, dripping from the bottom as if they were orange slices. On the back, I put our logo once again but in bigger, and then typed our individuals names around the logo. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the outcome.

I did not have a specific message to convey in mind when I created the drawing, but I created it with the goal of showcasing the creativity of our dance crew. The orange did not represent anything specific, but it can be interpreted as our group dynamic, since each member, or slice, has something to contribute.

I valued this project greatly because it allowed me to express my creativity and try something new. I have never designed anything before, so I found the learning process of designing a logo to be really interesting. Seeing the project come to life in 3D on the T-Shirt was also very rewarding, because it turned out to be very similar to how I envisioned it. Related website
