bubble: A Junior Illustration Project by Miles Townhill (2020)

I am conveying the message of clout. MY inspiration for this piece was not some fancy deeper meaning. My main reasoning behind this design was that it simply looked cool. But in a sense, there was a deeper meaning I guess. Social Recognition has been and continues to be, a driving factor in almost every high school around America. It's the reason we were the clothes we wear and hang with the people we do, to an extent, act the way we act. That’s the reasoning behind my design. I wanted to make something cool and wear something cool.

I enjoyed the freedom that was granted with this project. We had so many options to choose from that it was kinda crazy. When I heard all the options a lot of ideas came into my head for various topics, like patches and stickers for my favorite eSports teams and Volleyball clubs. I also was able to appreciate the time frame we were given for this project. Mr. Florendo knew that many of the students including myself wanted to experiment with different design ideas. Closer to the beginning of the project Mr. Flo told us we ere not allowed to use gradients for our t-shirt designs which kinda sucked because y entire design revolved around a radiant so I had to come up with a new idea. Then one day Mr. Flo told us gradients would work again on our t-shirt, so I reverted it to my original design which I fine-tuned and eventually finished. My design turned out to be the first design of my new and (hopefully) successful clothing brand, bubble. Designed by Miles Townhill in San Francisco. Related website
