Pluto Project: A Junior Illustration Project by Zoltan Cabute (2020)

“Pluto Project” was an all inclusive party that my cousin and his friends curated where everyone was driven to pursue some creative outlet. People played music, painted, sewed clothing, and created. So the driving idea behind my design was to create merchandise for the participants. The underlying message in “Pluto Project” at least for me, is to enjoy the process of creating something and sharing that joy with the people around you, who are creating as well.

For this particular design drew some inspiration from Bjork’s merchandise from her “Homogenic” album. I’m not going to lie, for the head portion of the design, I screenshotted a stock image from Shutterstock. That image was plastered with “Shutterstock” watermarks so I went into Adobe Photoshop and removed those using the Band-aid tool, and Content-Aware Fill. I then opened the Photo-shopped image in Adobe Illustrator and used Image Trace to capture the outlines of the head. The reason I chose the figure of the head is because the head harbors all of our thoughts and ideas, these thoughts are projected into the real world through the art we create.

I liked this project in particular because of the freedom it gave us to explore different mediums. We were able to take this project into any direction we wanted without any guidelines to follow. Related website
