Since we’ve been stuck in quarantine, I’ve found myself spending a large amount of time cooking and writing poetry- which are the last two hobbies I ever thought I would enjoy. Although there are a lot of open mic and spoken poetry events, as well as a large quantity of food-related happenings, I have never seen the two combined. Although it might seem like an odd mix, it makes perfect sense: food makes people feel comfortable, it creates a bond between those who share it, and the best ideas are always shared when people feel connected. So in a way, food opens people up, it gives everyone a glimpse of your soul, and what better place to share your thoughts about the world than one where people want to understand you?
I really like how the design turned out simple yet telling of the event, in a way that isn’t so obvious. It depicts a woman who is holding a microphone, which is actually made up of ice cream. It perfectly encapsulates the theme I wanted my event to pertain: lighthearted, fun, an sincere.
