I chose to create my one page flyer for the organization Best Buddies International. I’ve been volunteering with them for a couple years now and I really appreciate their cause. Best Buddies is an organization devoted to creating friendship, leadership, employment, and housing opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Every year, Best Buddies hosts Friendship Walks all over the world. These events are a great opportunity for fundraising as well as raising awareness for the cause of inclusivity. This year, due to COVID-19, the Friendship Walks will be held virtually through various social media platforms. My flyer explains the format of the event as well as providing some insight as to what Best Buddies does as an organization.
I am very proud of the abstract brush strokes in the background because I had never created something like that before. Overall, I am satisfied with the fact that I created all of the pictures and graphics myself. The color scheme of the flyer is the same as the colors in the official Best Buddies logo, a gift to the organization from famous artist, Keith Haring. I am also happy with the way the pictures fit the theme and how they contribute to the message, especially the picture of me and my buddy Dave, who has autism.
