First We Rise Then We Fall: A Senior Movie Poster by Olivia Ahrens (2020)

My movie poster is designed to follow the plot of a movie I created called “First We Rise Then We Fall”. It is a dramatic romance about a woman in Alabama during the 1950s who was raised by her father, as her mother died during childbirth. Growing up, she was fairly poor and lived on a farm. She built herself up and became one of the most wealthy women in the south because of her textile company. This was especially interesting because women had mainly lived off of men’s money before the 1950s women’s movements. She goes to a gala for wealthy and powerful women, where she meets her husband. This is the scene in which I chose to illustrate on my poster. We later find out that he was only there to find a woman to marry so he could steal her money, which he does. After losing most of her wealth, she moves onto a ranch and lives a simple life once again. I created this poster using Adobe Illustrator.

My poster was influenced by the US artist Andrew Wyeth, a realist painter who lived from July 1, 1917- January 16, 2009.
