Despair: A Senior Listener Lyric Photographic Diptych by Brent Abe-Titcomb (2019)

My lyrical essay was about my uncle who had to endure plenty of hardships regarding moving from one place to another. The diptych was about my uncle who had to constantly re-assimilate as a kid.

The photo I chose was of a homeless woman who resembled my uncle because both subjects have moved from place to place both having to endure the hardships of having to adjust constantly. I tried my best to portray the subject in a depressing manor. I also tried to make it so that the photo best resembled my quote although, there is no direct correlation.

For this project, I decided to do my work in Adobe Photoshop. In Photoshop, I applied the black and white shade to desaturate the color from my subject. The outline of my subject has the quote warped inside the isolated proportion. I wanted my quote to appeal with my subject so I wrapped it inside the white area on the panel to the left.
